Transforming Saint Andrew’s
SHAPING Formation is the way God manifests to us, and is also the way we make ourselves known to God.

In light of last year’s congregational surveys, and in harmony with Bishop Jon Bruno’s vision for the Diocese as a whole, the Bishop’s Committee recently identified formation as the primary 2003 focus for Saint Andrew’s. But what is formation? And how can we achieve it, both as individuals and as a community?

REAL TIME ‘What happened to Jesus
happened because it happens to us.’

Most of the Holy Year hurtles along at breakneck speed, compressing the 33 years of Jesus’ life into about half as many weeks. But during Holy Week we slow down and share, in real time, Christ’s journey into Jerusalem, to the cross, and beyond. As sacred and profane time touch, we come to understand that journey more fully. And as our lives pace themselves with Christ’s, we realize one of the most profound elements of God’s grace and love: that what happened to Jesus happened because it happens to us.

TUESDAY IN HOLY WEEK
‘Reflections on Women of the Cross’
Follow the women who journeyed to Jerusalem with Jesus in Scripture, song, and story.

Luke’s words remind us that Christ’s suffering, death, and burial were witnessed and shared by many women, who in weeping for him wept also for themselves. They still do. “Reflections on Women of the Cross” is a Holy Week observance for, by, and about women. Featuring music composed by Margaret Scharf, O.P., and dramatic readings written by the Rev. Ginna Benson, this evening of scripture, story, song, and silence explores the place of female experience in the story of the Passion.

Help the Bunny on Easter Eve
DYEING Create multihued (or single-hued) works of art at this Holy Saturday Workshop

Tie-dyed, speckled, stenciled, striped—Easter wouldn’t be Easter without those pastel gems otherwise known as Easter eggs, which the Bunny desperately needs to do his (her?) job! Children of all ages are invited to an egg-dyeing workshop on Holy Saturday, April 19.

New-vicar questions?
Here’s the process

By TERI POYTHRESS, Bishop’s Warden

Many of you have questions about the process by which a new vicar will be appointed to Saint Andrew’s. How will Bishop Bruno choose? Does the bishop know our needs? What happens to Ginna? When will the appointment take place? Even though I don’t have answers to all of these questions, I find comfort in our Lord’s hands.

A child’s-eye view of Holy Week

Many Holy Week activities at Saint Andrew’s are wonderful for children. Here’s a rundown of what’s appropriate for the little ones

April 27th marks ‘Mass on the Grass’

Fair is the moonlight, fairer still the sunshine... Earth Day is April 22, and the following Sunday, April 27, is the date for Saint Andrew’s annual Mass on the Grass.

Teller needed for summer

By BETTY LAWRENCE

Do you have one hour each week for nine weeks while I am in Florida for the summer, from June 22 to Aug. 22? Please call the church office, or else call me or Rita Dean.

Coffee Hour needs your
help Sunday mornings

We no longer have one person in charge of making and cleaning up coffee on Sunday mornings. Therefore, your help is greatly needed. Please sign up for one Sunday a month to either set up or clean up. There will be very clear instructions on the cart and it only takes about 20 minutes for either job.
